Garage sale weekend is here

It’s time! Join us Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11-12, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. We’ve assembled our sale items into quite a treasure trove for you to peruse at 4525 NW Button Rd.

Pleasant Hill UMC is located just down the road from the annual Holy Smokin’ Jamboree, so expect 46th Street to be hoppin’ with activity.

This indoor garage sale is a biennial event for Pleasant Hill. All proceeds go to our mission projects at the church. Our biggest project is our Holiday Bags of Hope event. We collect an array of vital supplies to the homeless through the Topeka Rescue Mission. Last year we were able to provide 75 bags, and that need continues to grow each year.

We also do what we can to help with the USD 345 Resource Room. Those needs vary from year to year, but we always have a school supply drive and a clothing drive. In the past, we have had a sock vs. underwear competition pairing KU fans against KSU fans. (Believe it or not, there is a great need for socks and underwear at the elementaries.) This year, we have a shoe drive planned.

While most of our projects are locally based, our mission team also keeps an eye on national areas of need, particularly those affected by weather disasters, from floods to fire, sending donations to those areas.
