† Hymn “Blessed Assurance” #369 † Please stand as you are able.
1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood!
Refrain: This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
2. Perfect submission, perfect delight!
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight!
Angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love. [Refrain]
3. Perfect submission, all is at rest.
I in my Savior am happy and blest-
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love. [Refrain]
Unison Prayer You may be seated.
All: God of wind and flame, pour out Your Holy Spirit on a world in need of Pentecost fire. Fill Your people with courage and power, and set our hearts ablaze, that our young may have visions, and our elders may dream dreams. Ignite a passion within us to spread the good news of Your glorious salvation, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong. They are weak but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so.
Reading from the New Testament: Romans 8:1-17 (NRSVUE)
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and to deal with sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For this reason the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law—indeed, it cannot, 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, then the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.
12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are obligated, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh— 13 for if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if we in fact suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
Leader: This is the Word of God, for the People of God.
All: Thanks be to God.
Favorite Hymn “He Touched Me” #367
1. Shackled by a heavy burden,
‘neath a load of guilt and shame,
Then the hand of Jesus touched me,
and now I am no longer the same.
He touched me, O He touched me,
and O the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened, and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.
2. Since I met the blessed Savior,
since He cleansed and made me whole,
I will never cease to praise Him;
I’ll shout it while eternity rolls.
He touched me, O He touched me,
and O the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened, and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.

The Lord’s Prayer
Reading from the New Testament: Acts 2:1-13 (NRSVUE)
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.
5 Now there were devout Jews from every people under heaven living in Jerusalem. 6 And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. 7 Amazed and astonished, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power.” 12 All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13 But others sneered and said, “They are filled with new wine.”

Hymn “More Like You” #2167
More like you, Jesus, more like you.
Fill my heart with your desire to make me more like You.
More like you, Jesus, more like you.
Touch my lips with holy fire and make me more like you.
Lord, you are my mercy. Lord, you are my grace.
All my deepest sins have forever been erased.
Draw me in your presence. Lead me in your ways.
I long to bring you glory in righteousness and praise.
More like you, Jesus, more like you.
Fill my heart with your desire to make me more like You.

† Hymn #2036 “Give Thanks” † Please stand as you are able.
Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy one,
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ His son. And now let the weak say, “I am strong”; let the poor say, “I am rich because of what The Lord has done for us.” Give Thanks.
† Prayer Of Thanksgiving † Please stand as you are able.

† Closing Hymn “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling” #384
† Please stand as you are able.
The Light of Christ Goes Before Us into the World
1. Love divine, all loves excelling,
joy of heaven, to earth come down;
fix in us thy humble dwelling; all thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art;
visit us with thy salvation; enter every trembling heart.
2. Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit
into every troubled breast!
Let us all in thee inherit; let us find that second rest.
Take away our bent to sinning; Alpha and Omega be;
end of faith, as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty.
3. Come, Almighty to deliver, let us all thy life receive;
suddenly return and never, nevermore thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing, serve thee as thy hosts above,
pray and praise thee without ceasing, glory in thy perfect love.
4. Finish, then, thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be.
Let us see thy great salvation perfectly restored in thee;
changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place,
till we cast our crowns before thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise.
Benediction
