Vacation Bible School success
We had an amazing week when Illumination Station Vacation Bible School rolled through Pleasant Hill UMC the week of July 20-24. With 39 registered kids and 26 volunteers, the church was a busy place for kids of all ages, complete with lava lamps, flashing lights, mirror balls. We even had our very own kaleidoscope made by Matt Mannell and Greg Jenson which was a favorite of our kids.
“Shine your Light” became the catch phrase of the week. We all worked on ways to add our special gifts to the world to make the world a better place. And what better way to do that than through the teachings of Jesus.
To reinforce that message, we learned new songs, enjoyed making crafts, and shared fun and games that supported our theme. Pastor Marge was busy each night sharing the Bible story with the kids. We also reunited with old friends through the years at VBS and made new friends as well. We capped off the week with a wonderful program on July 26, VBS Sunday, for family and friends.
Volunteers shared their amazing talents. Some of us were teachers, some were decorators, some were shepherds for our young friends. We also had amazing help from the REACH church in DeSoto. This caring congregation donated beautiful decor to Pleasant Hill UMC to make our week even brighter. We, in turn, donated our decor to a church in Osage City.
Well done, Pleasant Hill UMC! Let’s continue to SHINE OUR LIGHT throughout the year as we continue the important words of Jesus in our community.
